Monkeypox

Questionnaire/history: Symptom onset 5-21 (median 7) after exposure? Fever?

Headache?

Muscle aches?

Backache?

Lymphadenopathy?

Fatigue? Onset of rash 1-3 days after onset of fever? Rash usually starting on the face before becoming more widespread? Vesicles?

Pustules?

Scabs?

Past medical history?

Current medication?

Known drug allergies?


Management: Conservative measures Self-isolation until: - No fever for 72 hours? - No new lesions for 48 hours? - All lesions have scabbed? - No lesion in the mouth? - Any lesions on the face/arms/hands have scabbed, the scabs have fallen off and fresh skin has formed underneath?

Disease notified? Small box vaccination? Severe disease or high risk of severe disease? - Cidofovir? - Tecovirimat?
